    Wedding Photography has Gone Modern

    Wedding Photography - importance

Wedding Photography is of extreme importance to your wedding. It is not critical since you can marry without photographs, but that is the only reason. The wedding photographs are the most important that any person will even have taken, and will be expected to last forever. Hence you don’t want your digital photographs printed with inks that will fade within a few months. You want them professionally shot and professionally printed.

It could be argued that your choice of wedding photographer is more important than the minister that marries you. Both are essential but you have more control over the end product the minister provides than you have of that which the person providing the Wedding Photography provides. You can make one last forever, but not the other if it not professionally finished.

    Wedding Photography - family

The wedding photographs initially take a fairly standard form. These are the posed shots. Those that include the bridal party and the various close members of each family. There are a number of poses and shots according to a hierarchy and woe betide any person providing the Wedding Photography that leaves out Aunt Agnes. You will generally have the bride and groom together, then with each set of parents, then with each set of families, then with all the parents together, then with …

The larger the family the longer it takes. Hence the importance of having a priority shooting order during the Wedding Photography. Get the most important photographs taken first so that if time runs out before the reception has to start then you only have the less important shots remaining to be taken. The most important can be taken at the venue of the ceremony, if appropriate, and the rest at the reception. Sometimes the reception venue has better background scenery, though a good professional photographer will tell you that the scenery does not matter. A good looking portrait photograph of a posed set can be taken anywhere.

    Wedding Photography - choices

In the past all Wedding Photography was carried out on film, and a professional photographer would have different speeds of film for the different types of shot that had to be taken. They would also have different types of cameras for the different shots. You always felt that you were in the hands of an expert with these cameras around their necks, with all the different screw-on lenses and rolls of film.

Now, however, it is all digital, and it is difficult to have the same confidence. However, assuming that they have the right pixel count, digital photographs are every bit as good as the old film equivalents and blow up just as well. You must be careful of old Uncle Richard who is doing your wedding ‘snaps’ cheaply. Because that is what you will get: photos just like holiday snaps on one of the original digital cameras that give fantastically grainy results when blown up to double size.

    Wedding Photography - range

Professional photographers are still professionals, and good digital photographs are as good as the best you can get from film. However, not all the Wedding Photography needs to be posed. They should also record the important events of the whole day, not only the poses after the ceremony. Most photographers will capture the guests as they arrive and have prints ready for the reception so that they can be ordered, or even purchased. In this digital age the printer can be right there at the reception. There is not more need for a darkroom.

They will also record such highlights as the speeches, the cake being cut, the first dance with the bride and groom, the going away, and so on. Informal poses can be taken, and individual photographs of the bride and groom. Everything, in fact, that you want. It is you who is paying after all and makes the decisions about your Wedding Photography.

    Wedding Photography - digital

The beauty of modern digital wedding photographs is that the Wedding Photography can be checked immediately, and if they are not right they can be retaken. They can also be printed out on glossy paper at the venue. This can be done at any desired size, so that guests who want them can get them on the spot.

Wedding Photography, as any other, has progressed from the days of darkrooms and the shots not being available until long after the event. When booking your photographer ask if they can be made available for printing at the reception, because there is no technical reason why not.
