How to Get a Wedding Picture to Treasure for Ever Wedding Picture - photographerYour Wedding Picture album is something that you will treasure forever, so you want it to be as good as it possibly can be. You don’t get a second chance, so your choice of photographer is very important. Most couples have a videographer at their wedding in addition to the person making your Wedding Picture album, but there is something about a beautifully posed still photograph that a video just cannot compete with. In fact, not only the posed photographs can be memorable, but also those captured moments that regular photography seems to capture much better as a still shot than any video ever could, no matter how professionally photographed. Wedding Picture - professionalFor the ideal Wedding Picture, your photographer should be a professional on top of his art, and with a complete knowledge of his tools – the cameras, lenses and lighting – needed for as near perfection in the depiction of nature as is possible. Is a particular shot more dramatic or beautiful in color or in black and white? A professional will know this rather than offer you both. A good photographer will work at your wedding with black and white and color, whether using digital or film. The benefit of digital is that the same shot can be processed in color, black and white or even old style sepia, as your great grandparents’ wedding photographs were colored (or great-great grandparents, depending on your age!). There are a few things that have to be dealt with and booked immediately you have set a date for your wedding before thinking about your Wedding Picture album. The first is the venue for both the ceremony and the reception, and sometimes your wedding date is set around that. You book your venues first, and then that is the date for your wedding! Wedding Picture - timingHowever, once you know the date of your wedding, then you have to start looking for your dress, you have to book the caterer if the catering is not handled by the reception venue, then hiring the person in charge of your Wedding Picture album. You must book the limos early, especially if your wedding is in the spring during Prom season. Limousines are hard to get then – they have all been booked by the high school kids! Your neighbor’s kids could be climbing into their stretch limo while you are trying to fit yourself and your dress into a yellow cab! However, a few cash dollars into their hands should sort out that little problem! But back to reality. You have to book the florist, the band, the singers, the cake and what else? Oh, the photographer! Your photographer will have to be booked around a year in advance, or immediately you have set the date if you don’t have a year to spare. You don’t need a photographer that specializes in wedding photography, but it helps, and if you want a specialist then unless your wedding is in mid winter in Alaska, you will have to book early. What ever you do, do not allow Uncle Fred to take your wedding photographs. No matter how good he thinks he is, unless Uncle Fred is a pro it will end in tears. You will want to discuss your Wedding Picture needs with your photographer long before the event. Talk about the kind of wedding photos needed from the start of the day till the end. Make sure that the photographer is yours all day, and not flitting between weddings. You don’t want to be hunting for him or her when you are about to cut the cake. Do you want shots taken of the guests arriving, and should they be offered for sale during the reception (the shots, not the guests)? There is no reason why digital shots cannot be quickly printed off and offered to guests as samples for ordering the real things to be posted on later. Wedding Picture - requirementsDo you want any shots during the ceremony (if allowed), and what is your order of posed photographs after the wedding? That is important because sometimes time is limited for posed shots, and you want to make sure your priorities are met first, before the nieces and nephews and the rest get into the picture, you might want many of the posed shots taken for your Wedding Picture album at the reception venue if the scenery is better there. After all has been considered, your Wedding Picture needs are precious to you since this is the only time you have to get it right. Digital or film is often a question, though the advantage of digital is that it can be viewed immediately and a bad shot can be retaken. A digital file can also be enhanced or touched up, and reproduced in any color effect, including black and white and sepia. Most professional wedding photographers agree that digital is better than film for a wedding picture since the quality can be checked immediately, and if Aunt Agatha has chosen the wrong moment to blow her nose, then it can be seen and retaken. Wedding Picture - groundworkThat person who often appears at the back of wedding photos, but that nobody knows, can be airbrushed out and made to disappear. That gust of wind that blows your air over your eyes just at the wrong moment can be ignored, since there are plenty snaps left in a digital camera for your Wedding Picture album. You are not restricted to ‘x’ rolls of film. If you do your homework and get a good photographer, do the groundwork and book early and meet up a few times before the wedding, perhaps for some pre-posed shots for your album, then any Wedding Picture you have taken will be perfect for you and your husband, and whether digital or film, you will have no regrets and will know that you have done the very best that you can to record these special moments for all time.
