A Wedding Guest Book is a must for your wedding if you want a written record of your wedding day providing the thoughts and comments from your guests. It need not be a burden on you since all you will have to do is provide the book and leave it to the best man to make sure that it is used.

The traditional Wedding Guest Book comes with a white cover and a message from the bride and groom inside inviting comments and thoughts from their guests. You could get a quick instant photograph taken by the photographer just after the ceremony for insertion into the front cover by the best man or guest book attendant if you have one. The guest will be amazed at how your photograph got there before the reception.

Many people have the book passed from table to table by the best man during the reception, or simply place it on the bar. Others choose to have a Wedding Guest Book attendant and a special guest book table, where the attendant makes sure that the book is signed by everybody there. You could also have a Polaroid camera, or some other instant film camera, so that each guest can include his or her photograph with the comment, providing a permanent visual and written record of everybody that attended your wedding. Most brides go for the standard type of book, with room for photographs and comments, while others prefer something more like an autograph book, where a simple message and signature can be provided. You can also purchase silver or ceramic plates that the guests can sign with a special pen or engraving tools. These look good when displayed in your home and some prefer them to a regular book that might be stored away in a drawer, never to be seen.

The main problems with plates and platters, however, is a lack of room for any more than the guests’ signatures. The virtual booth is less costly for you to organize, and the wedding guests take their own videos using a video recorder or mobile phone, and include their messages for you. They can then send the files off to an address you provide them with where they are compiled into a video address book. That is a brilliant idea, and you will find that people are much more likely to speak from the heart when there are not strangers around recording them and what they say. This could be in addition to a Wedding Guest Book.

If you plan well beforehand, you can have an all inclusive Wedding Guest Book that includes the signatures and thoughts of the guest at your engagement party, your showers, your pre-wedding parties, the rehearsal dinner, the ceremony and reception and even the honeymoon, though why anybody would want to invite guests to their honeymoon is a mystery to me!

You will then be able to thumb through it years hence and remember what a wonderful time you and your guests had at all of the events leading up to and following your wedding. It is a permanent recording that will display the soul of your wedding rather than the formality that traditional wedding photographs or a Wedding Guest Book tend to record.
