How to Decide on Your Wedding Date

    Wedding Date - availability

Your Wedding Date is very important to you, but sometimes it is not possible to get married on the date that you want. If the venue you are planning for your wedding ceremony or reception is very popular, you might have to choose between another venue and another date. With many couples, the venue wins, as being of more important to their wedding that the actual date.

There are, however, some dates to avoid irrespective of the availability of the venues. On New Year’s Day, Christmas and Thanksgiving, you might find your acceptance rate very low indeed since your prospective guests might be doing something else! You should also take into account Superbowl and the World Series, and any other important sporting events. You don’t have to, but if you want guests to be there on your Wedding Date then it would be wise to.

    Wedding Date - timing

Everybody should avoid Friday 13th, and if your Wedding Date coincides with the start or end of daylight savings, be sure to remind your guests. Other than that, your wedding date is a matter of personal preference. However, you might want to take public holidays into account, and also times like important guests’ birthdays, wedding anniversaries and the like, when they might prefer not to have to attend a wedding. If in doubt, ask them.

If you have a large family and lots of friends, perhaps that does not leave you with many options left! What you are advised to do is to at least choose a season, and then a preferred Wedding Date within that season. You might be able to tie it down to specific weeks if you want to be married on a specific day of the week. That is when you should check out your preferred venues.

    Wedding Date - choices

If you are lucky your venues will be free on your chosen Wedding Date, but if not you have the decision to make: venue or date? If your chosen venue for the ceremony has a special significance to you, such as where you were christened or confirmed, or where your parents were married, then you might have to choose the closest available to date to that which you prefer.

If your reception venue is somewhere that you just love, and where you have always promised yourself that you would have your wedding reception, then again the Wedding Date will come second. That is why you should book the venues as soon as possible after your engagement. Hopefully you will not have gone to the lengths of booking the venues for your chosen date too far in advance, and then frantically tried to find a suitable groom to marry you on that date! However, the sooner you book, then the more chance there will be of you getting what you want when you want it!

    Wedding Date - planning

Once you have set the Wedding Date, your wedding plans can start in earnest. Your countdown has started and the things that have a timeline are now on the go. If you are not sure about a suitable date, June is a good month because it is named after Juno, the Roman goddess of women and marriage, who promises to care for and protect all women who marry during her month. It is also very popular however, so everything will that bit more expensive, especially the limos since it is also prom season.

Fall, or autumn, is a good time and things are not so hectic then. Prices have dropped a bit since school has started again, and your honeymoon will be so much cheaper. Competition for wedding venues will not be so fierce and you are more likely to get your preferred Wedding Date. The same is true for winter, and even more so in fact. Winter in the southern states such as California and Florida, and in the deserts states of Arizona and Nevada is a good time to get married, and if you are into winter sports, it is ideal for a Colorado wedding.

    Wedding Date - venue

Your Wedding Date is an important time to you, though the actual date itself is probably less significant than where you marry. The sooner you set the date the easier you will find it to book venues of your choice, rather than those forced on you, and that can also be made easier by the season in which you choose to marry. However, whatever the date is that you have finally settled on, it is certain to be a great day for you, and one for you to remember fondly for ever.

Is Your Wedding Date More Important the Venue?

    Wedding Date - special

Your Wedding Date might appear to be the most important aspect of your whole wedding, apart from your choice of with whom you decide to share it! After all, you are both going to celebrate its anniversary every year and it is going to be the most special date of your life, or so you believe right now.

But is that actually true? Not the fact that it will be a special Wedding Date that you will celebrate, since this is patently true, but the fact that it is the most important aspect of your whole wedding. Consider what else is involved in your wedding. The venue for your ceremony. Is that not important? Perhaps you have been dreaming of your perfect wedding since you were a young child. Perhaps you know exactly where you want to be married: where you want to stand and make your vows to the man you love, and with whom you want to spend the whole of the rest of your life.

    Wedding Date - decisions

Naturally, there are cases when the Wedding Date is more important than the venue, and you might want to married on a specific date for a reason. Perhaps you want to marry on your birthday or on the same date as you parents were married. It could be a very special date for you for other reasons, and to married on that date is very important to you. However, such dates are very rare and to most women the date of their wedding is not of particular importance when compared to other factors that they might want taken into consideration.

Perhaps your venue is more important, like right at the edge of a cliff that you know in Orange County, California. Or maybe it is that lovely little church in which your parents were married in and in which you, too, want to be married. Or maybe just somewhere that you have seen in a photograph, or a simple wedding chapel near to your home, that you have seen a happy couple come from and you have promised yourself that one day that will be you on your Wedding Date.

    Wedding Date - reception

Is it the date, then, that is so important or is it your wedding venue? If not the wedding venue then how about the reception? Have you been to a friend’s reception that you were so impressed with that you have decided that yours must also be there? Have you seen a beautiful hotel high in the mountains close to you in Colorado, or do want to be married and have your reception in Disneyland? Disney have their own wedding chapel and fairytale reception facilities that you, your husband and all of your guests will remember for ever, children or not. Is the Wedding Date still so important?

If you have a dream venue for your ceremony or reception it is wise to book these first. By all means set a preferred Wedding Date but then book your wedding venues as close to that as possible. Do that unless you have a date that is very important to you, and that will be the date of your wedding. It makes more sense to do it that way than choose a date and then try to find a venue that will always be second best to you.

    Wedding Date - seasons

It should not come as a surprise to you that the best venues for your ceremony; the most beautiful settings and most intimate chapels, are booked up well in advance. Most at least a year, though some do not allow bookings in advance of a year. In these cases you will find it very difficult to find their number not busy when you phone, so if you have a preferred location for your wedding venue it is probably best to employ a wedding planner to look after the arrangements for you. Tell them of your preferences for a Wedding Date and then leave it to them.

Is it worth it to you to change even the season of your wedding to secure the location of your dreams? For most brides it is, and you may have to do so also. Your Wedding Date may not be as important to you and your husband before your wedding as it will be afterwards.
